Command Prompt (Windows)
Find your serial number by typing a command into Windows.
- In Windows, search for and open CMD.EXE.A command windows opens.
- At the command prompt type wmic bios get serialnumber, and then press Enter.The serial number displays.Figure : Command Prompt
Support Information on desktops
To see the support information on an HP desktop, hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys, and press the S key on the keyboard.

System Information on notebooks
This section describes how to find the serial number from HP System Information.
NOTE:
This feature requires that HP QuickLaunch or Hotkeys software is installed.
To open System Information, press the fn + esc keys from the notebook's built-in keyboard.
The serial number displays at the bottom of the window.

HP Support Assistant
Choose your operating system from the following options, and then follow the steps for that operating system to find the serial number using HP Support Assistant.
NOTE:
If you do not have HP Support Assistant, go to the HP Support Assistant home page (in English) to download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant. If your operating system is no longer supported, HP Support Assistant might only be available on certain computers.
